High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) Systems
Large High Volume Low Speed fans have rapidly become a preferred cost effective air moving system for applications such as large open floor plan plants with high ceilings for efficient floor-to-ceiling heating transfer. ThermoTek and their Tubercle Technology™ blades out-perform all conventional air foils. No other blade can deliver stall angles as high as 22 degrees.
Benefits of HVLS Fans in Industrial Environments
Manufacturers everywhere are constantly being challenged with ways to ensure the air quality in their facility is appropriate to maintain equipment and keep employees productive. Whether your business is a aviation, an auto service shop, manufacturing, or a large open office area, warehouse, hotel or convention center, a high volume low speed (HVLS) fan offers a number of benefits over traditional high speed fans. HVLS fans are popular for many applications, in industrial and manufacturing facilities. What makes these fans so much better?
How Does an HVLS Fan Work Differently?
Any fan can push air around. The way to get the most out of a fan’s operation is to ensure precise airflow. An HVLS fan has longer blades than a traditional fans. These blades move slower and control the air flow to travel straight down toward the floor. Not only does this control air distribution better, it also provides less noise and turbulence in the environment.
Saving on Energy Costs
HVLS fans concentrates air flow and ventilation, which distributes air more effectively than a basic fan. These fans help lower energy consumption in the winter by pushing the warm air at the top of the building downward. This air mixes with the cooler air near the floor. In the summer, an HVLS fan helps cool the interior of your facility. It can lower the temperature by about seven degrees, which offers significant savings.
HVLS Fans Reduce Maintenance Costs
Instead of having 10 to 20 smaller fans in one area, one HVLS fan can do the job more effectively. This equates to cost savings because maintenance isn’t forced to take care of multiple products. The need for ductwork is often eliminated, which is another savings for manufacturers.
ThermoTek Fans
A wide variety of fans are offered by ThermoTek included that latest axial series roof mounted fans. These fans are a great low cost option for meeting application exhaust requirements when little to no ductwork is present. This compliments the already popular Utility Set, Centrifugal, In-Line and Gravity Vent fan series.
Modular Make-Up Air Systems
The Modular Packaged Unit (MPU) is designed to be a factory packaged air conditioning and heating unit for 100% Outdoor Air (OA) applications. The modular packaged cooling unit is optimized to work in conjunction with highly efficient make-up air delivery methods, such as perimeter supply plenums and can be used with both electric and gas heat. All refrigerant is environmentally friendly R-410A and condensers have a nominal SEER rating of 14 for greater efficiency. One benefit of this unit is that multiple cooling stages increase the efficiency by not using 100% of the cooling capacity when not needed, thus allowing lower energy usage.
Reducing Humidity
HVLS fans were invented for agricultural use to keep cows cooler which makes them produce more milk. One interesting byproduct was that the fans control moisture levels in the air. Workers who aren’t dealing with high humidity are more productive, and lower humidity levels reduce damage to the materials in your manufacturing process. If your business uses dehumidifiers along with fans, it can reduce your reliance on this machinery.
