The Grateful Dead community around the world celebrate the life of Jerry Garcia with the days between his birth, 8/1/42 and his passing, 8/9/95.
Jerry was quoted to say about the Deadheads that…”they are like people who like licorice….It might not be something that everybody likes but there are a certain kind of people who really do like it”
5/29/1995 Was My Last Grateful Dead Show
Portland Meadows on May 29, 1995 was the last of my many Grateful Dead shows. Chuck Berry was the opening act. Even then, the ’95 news clip in the link below describes it as a “throwback” however, I assure you, the music of the Grateful Dead has crossed paths with generations since then and is very much alive today.
